Tonsillitis or tonsil stones - white marks on the tonsils

These white marks in the right tonsil are surface ulceration

caused by an underlying infection, usually viral but can be bacterial. They look like tonsil stones, but are not. The treatment is with fluids, anti inflammatory medication and rest, followed by laser tonsillectomy under local anaesthetic spray if the patient is suitable.
