The treatment of blocked noses can be difficult as some are resistant to the usual steroid, antihistamine or anticholinergic sprays. Sometimes there is a significant bend in the nasal septum which needs surgery. Often though it is the inferior turbinate which blocks the breathing channel at the front of the nose. This can be quite easily treated by shrinking back the turbinate using the Holmium YAG laser turbinoplasty procedure performed after one local anaesthetic injection into the turbinate. the patient returns to work immediately after the procedure
