Bad breath and tonsil stones
I have been treating bad breath suffers who have tonsil stones for many years. Those patients with deep crypts and holes in the tonsils will form tonsil stones due to food and salivary debris being forced into the tonsils during the process of chewing and swallowing. This material slowly decomposes and emits foul smelling gases and fluids. It's not the whole story for bad breath however, wherever debris can trap in the mouth is where a bad smell can be emitted from, so it's important to check the teeth for holes and cracks, and for any chronic infection.
A tonsil stone.
Treatment involves laser vapourisation of the tonsils under local anaesthetic spray so that the holes and cracks are gone.
