There are many causes of snoring. But on occasion you find a soft palate like this, with enlarged tonsils on both sides. This is the oropharyngeal isthmus and there is no doubt it is obstructed and must be a major cause of the patient's snoring. The treatment is a laser palatoplasty under local anaesthetic, followed by laser tonsil reduction under local anaesthetic.
